How to Apply

How to Apply

We have some paperwork to handle before your adventure begins. We’re going to guide you every step of the way.

You are considered an international student if you are a citizen of a country other than the United States and plan to enroll full-time at Ursuline in pursuit of an educational goal. If you are a US citizen, permanent resident, or refugee who currently lives and/or studies outside the US, you are considered a domestic applicant with foreign credentials.

To enter the United States and enroll in classes you will need to gain admission to Ursuline College and then our team will work with you to secure your F-1 student visa.

Applying for Admission

First, submit your online application. Choose Ursuline’s Aspiring Leaders Application or The Common Application (high school students only). Then, submit the following:

Your academic record

Test scores

English language proficiency is essential for admission and must be demonstrated by meeting one of the following criteria:

Test scores must be ordered and received directly from the testing organization

Documentation & Certification of Finances (DCF)

International applicants are required to submit the Documentation and Certification of Finances form electronically to receive a Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20) to apply for an F-1 Student Visa. Please note once you have started the document you cannot save the information and return to it later.

  • You will upload two additional required immigration items within the DCF form: your passport photo page and proof of finances.
  • The Form I-20 will not be provided to you until this form, passport photo page, and proof of finances are received.
  • Provide this memo to your financial institution outlining exactly what you need to submit along with your DCF for financial proof.

F-1 students transferring from another US college or university

You are required to transfer your SEVIS record to Ursuline College if you are currently studying at another institution on an F-1 visa within the United States. Ursuline College will not prepare a Form I-20 for you (and any dependents) until Ursuline’s Transfer-In form is submitted by a Designated School Official (DSO) at your current institution. Your signature will authorize the release of your SEVIS record to Ursuline College.

Other requirements

While the items outlined above detail the unique procedures and requirements for international applicants, there may be additional requirements for all applicants to your specific program. If you are applying as a graduate student, undergraduate transfer student, high school student, or are interested in pursuing our adult accelerated program, be sure to review application requirements for each program.

How applications are reviewed

Ursuline College admits candidates who demonstrate potential for success in rigorous academic work. Qualified applicants are admitted regardless of sex, race, religion, color, age, veteran status, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression or physical ability.

Ursuline’s Admission Committee seeks to identify and admit students who will add character to the college community while succeeding academically, and reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant. To make a qualified decision, the Admission Committee will holistically consider previous academic coursework, English language proficiency, writing ability, and evidence of personal, professional and/or extracurricular accomplishments.
