Online Bachelor of Arts in Social Work

Online Bachelor of Arts in Social Work

Turn your passion for social justice into a rewarding career.

Ursuline College’s NEW online bachelor’s degree program in Social Work (BSW) is designed for working adults seeking licensure to become leaders and advocates in their fields. Paraprofessionals such as case workers, home health aides, and human service workers in social service agencies and hospitals can complete their BSW while continuing to work.

The program offers a collaborative, flexible, and challenging curriculum for all distance learners. Faculty members strive to build a sense of community in each class.

In addition to the 15-week semesters, students are individually matched with agencies and organizations for field work in their local communities. Because our program is accredited, graduates have the option of advanced placement in master’s degree programs, having earned up to 15 credits of graduate-level work within the BSW program.

In addition to approval from the Higher Learning Commission, the social work program is accredited by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Council on Social Work Education. Ursuline is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA).

Outcomes of the program

  • You’ll be ready to integrate values, skills, knowledge and ethical standards of the social work profession with a liberal arts foundation through the Ursuline Core Curriculum.
  • You’ll be ready for graduate education and social work licensure.
  • You’ll challenge yourself when working with diverse populations, including those who are at-risk of oppression.
  • You’ll advance social and economic justice through leadership.
  • Our program’s strengths perspective is a key theoretical approach to practice-based education: you’ll identify your strengths and be challenged to be reflective.
