Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Corporate Communications

Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Corporate Communications

Ursuline’s PR program is the only one in northeast Ohio housed in a business department to intentionally build your business savvy as a foundation to your PR career.

Ursuline’s interdisciplinary program in Public Relations and Corporate Communications will weave together public relations, communications, business, graphic design, and technology coursework. You’ll learn more than theory as well – you’ll complete two internships, which our Advisory Committee of PR professionals will help you obtain, and work on projects for real local businesses in your classes to build your industry portfolio.

Our program is recognized by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and you’re sure to be involved in our student chapter (PRSSA). You’ll be mentored by professor and program chair, Dr. Laura Hammel, who has been recognized by PRSA for exceptional mentorship, as well as many real-world professionals from a wide array of Cleveland businesses and organizations. You might also choose to pursue our Social Media Certificate to compliment your course of study.

You’ll also have the unique opportunity to accelerate the completion of your Socially Conscious MBA at Ursuline, in as little as one year, through our bridge program. Ursuline is a Principles for Responsible Management Education school as a member of the UN Global Impact and has also achieved specialized accreditation through IACBE, which means Ursuline exceeds all 18 industry standards of excellence in business education. Taken together, what these two standards mean for you is that you’ll learn to manage business projects both responsibly and successfully. And because all of our business programs share so many core courses, you’ll easily be able to double major in Accounting, Business Management, Marketing, or Sport Management, giving you a broad foundation of skills for your career.

Outcomes of the program

  • You’ll understand the dynamics of entire business organization.
  • You’ll refine your ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • You’ll develop the sensitivity, knowledge and techniques required to analyze and solve the array of complex issues faced by individuals and organizations today.
  • You’ll broaden human relationship/communication skills and develop networking skills as you acquire professional skills and experience while still in school.
  • You’ll understand the ethics and responsibilities involved in providing an organizational or individual a voice that fosters open and informed decision-making in a democratic society, and the ability to be an advocate for “doing the right thing.”
