Information for Transfer Counselors

We’re in this together. We’re eager to work with you to help your students transition to four-year degree programs.

At Ursuline, we recognize the importance of what you do every day to help your students make their big transition from your campus to ours. Our goal is to provide you with every resource in our toolbox to make that process a little easier on you and your students. And, as professional colleagues working from both sides of the desk, we want to get to know you and have some fun too.

When Ursuline is the Right Fit

You might want to recommend Ursuline to a community college student if she/he is:

  • Academically focused, interested in learning, and looking for a transformative experience, not just a credential.
  • Interested and invested in activism, social justice, or service.
  • Independent, mature, and focused on personal-development.
  • Cost-conscious, and has been academically successful in community college (we offer PTK and transfer scholarships based on college GPA)

Ursuline’s campus provides a student life experience that is distinctive from other options in Ohio. Our women’s focused environment is a strong fit for students whose social interests include building personal relationships with professors, contributing to community projects, and enhancing their leadership skills. We also offer an excellent assistance program for students with ADHD and Learning Disabilities called FOCUS.

Monthly Webinars

We’ll be launching monthly webinars for transfer counselors in September 2017. These will be 30-minute interactive (and recorded!) professional opportunities for you to build invaluable knowledge for advising your students. Each webinar will focus on an individual career path available to students at Ursuline.

As a part of each webinar you’ll learn how to talk with students about career opportunities in that area, understand job outlook, what students can do with a degree in that field, and how students can prepare for transfer from a community college into a bachelor’s degree program. We’ll also cover unique aspects of Ursuline’s programs and field any questions you have about the field or our program.

Check back in mid-August for fall webinar topics and to sign-up.

Transfer Counselor Day

Ursuline hosts Transfer Counselor Day on campus each February. The event is a half-day commitment and wraps up just after lunch with an optional campus tour. This day is designed to explore several excellent programs at Ursuline deeply, rather than skimming the top of all academic offerings. As such, after attending Transfer Counselor Day for several years, you will build a deep understanding not only of Ursuline’s programs and offerings, but of the career paths they represent. Our goal is to help you feel more effective advising your students for their career choices and for their transfer to Ursuline.

Scholarship Opportunities

Ursuline is an affordable option for transfer students. Ursuline is the least expensive private college in Ohio, according to the Federal College Scorecard. In fact, 99% of our undergraduates receive financial assistance to attend Ursuline and we award nearly $25 million in aid to our students each year. Not only is Ursuline affordable, student outcomes are stellar. In fact, just this year, Payscale.com put Ursuline in the top 25% of all colleges and universities in the US for annual Return on Investment after analyzing graduates earnings compared to degree program cost.

Cost of Attendance

As a degree-seeking transfer students can earn up to $10,000/year in a Transfer scholarship, and members of Phi Theta Kappa will earn an additional $1,500. Scholarships are awarded based on the application for admission to the College – students do not need to complete any additional forms or applications. UCAP students are excluded from the transfer scholarship program, as UCAP classes are offered at an already-reduced rate.

Schedule a Group Visit

We would love to host a group of interested students from your campus and invite you to schedule a group visit to Ursuline. Depending on your group size, we will even assist with transportation and treat your group to a meal while they are on campus. During your visit, your students will meet their transfer counselor, learn about Ursuline and the academic programs that interest them, and tour campus with a current student. If you would like to integrate other experiences into your group’s schedule, we can work together to achieve your vision.

Call our Coordinator of Campus Visits, Kristina Vliek at 440 646 6047 to schedule your group visit.
